Director Biography.
Nathan Burnby is a 17 year old filmmaker based in Perth, Western Australia. He made his directorial debut with Adrift (2025), a short film that blends science fiction with emotional realism, exploring themes of sacrifice, legacy, and human connection. With a strong interest in visual storytelling he brings a cinematic style that is both intimate and ambitious. He aims to continue writing and directing original works for both short and feature-length formats.
Director Statement.
My first ever short film as a 17 year old filmmaker! I was inspired by Sci-fi greats such as Kubrick's "2001" and Chris Nolan's "Interstellar" and gave myself the challenge of creating a sci-fi on no budget, and this was the result!
